More Party defections to UKIP

Welcome Cllr. Doran!

Congratulations to Councillor Alf Doran, who, by defecting to UKIP, has decided to put the interests of his country before the narrow interests of the Conservative Party.

Those who have had to make such decisions recognise the pressure often put on individuals to follow the party line. However, the calling to defend the nation against an EU State is strong.

So well done Councillor Alf Doran! Welcome to the growing band of men and women ready to defend the United Kingdom.

Steven Woolfe is the UKIP City of London spokesman and advisor on financial markets and regulation. He is a barrister and General Counsel for an international hedge fund manager.

He has worked in the financial services industry for 17 years and is a passionate advocate of the sector and its importance in: ensuring the continued growth of the UK, creating jobs, and generating the tax revenue which helps to pay for so many of the nation's important services.

He believes Britain's continued membership of the European Union is detrimental to our nation's hard won democratic principles, our independence and our financial security.

When not advocating leaving the EU, Steven chairs The City of London Forum, a non-party political association which brings together City professionals, parliamentarians and members of civil society.

He splits his time between London and Cheshire, where he is an enthusiastic supporter of local small businesses.
